About Us

The Franklin Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FRHA) was founded in 1963. Mr. J.R. Howerton was appointed the first Chairman by City Council on December 23, 1963.

Today, with a staff of 12 committed employees and a 7 member Board of Commissioners, FRHA is dedicated to providing safe, decent and sanitary housing to low and very low income families, elderly and disabled, in an environment that fosters self-sufficiency and community pride.

The FRHA currently manages 162 units of housing and 362 Housing Choice Vouchers to families in Franklin, Southampton and Isle of Wight.

Homeownership for low income families is a new concept in the City of Franklin. FRHA was approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a homeownership program in early 2004.

Our vision is to be a leader in providing housing service, homeownership, urban development and revitalizing communities.
